The local community of Veria is tuned in the rhythm of the campaign to support the Public Central Library of Veria, while more and more supporters are added daily, outreaching even the borders of Greece!

A typical example is the action of PAPATZIKOY gallery which devotes February in the campaign, thus turning the gallery for a month into a small library where books and works of art will be gathered and provided to the public in return of any amount people wish to offer. Similarly, the 16th Primary school of Veria organizes a second-hand books bazaar noting that the Library “is our home, it is the one which first turned on the lights of knowledge and creativity, it is a haven for children, teachers and parents in their intellectual quests.”

Both unknown and well known citizens of Veria visit the Library to make their donation to the donation box, while the news for the campaign has already reached the Greek expatriates too. The National Herald, the daily newspaper of the Greek Americans devoted a major article in the Library calling Greek Americans to make joint deposits for the Library, which just like in 2010 with the award from Bill and Belinda Gates Foundation, will make them feel proud once again!

The amount gathered in just two weeks is 16.700 € and the effort to “Turn on the lights, together, you and I” is still going on. It’s worth noted that the first money deposited in the account of the Library for the ends of the campaign were from the network of Public stores, due to the great act they realized asking the public to donate any amount.
