The response of the people, both from the local community but also from all over Greece, to the open invitation of the Central Public Library for the dissemination of the message, support of the efforts and development of its vision, is overwhelming. The campaign for the completion of the second floor renovation counts just three weeks and the amount already raised has reached €43,700!

The support by the Facebook group “Old photographs of Veria” and its creator Mr. Stergios Zygoulianos, is worth mentioning. It is a unique group, which has managed in a short period of time to have 5,700 members from around the world, gather rich photographic material about the history of the city and create a dynamic communication platform among its members. The support by the thinking and action group of Veria “Young people with vision ‘’ who visited the library to make a pledge is also worth mentioning.

The Bookstore Heliotropio  and the  Foreign Language Schools  LEXIS-Super Course Editions in Veria, the Novacert Ltd – consultancy firm in Greece, in the food and agricultural industries field  – based in Alexandria, Imathia, the architectural design office Betaplan and the Library automation systems company Elidoc OE based in Athens ,  are few of  the first companies that rushed to support financially the library to complete its goals, while, with deep emotion, the library  received  donations in memory of the publisher Niki  Voulgareli and in memory of Athanasios  Loukakos from his family, relatives and friends.

Spreading the message “Together we will turn on the lights” became even stronger thanks to the excellent video that was donated to us by the director Katerina Evangelakou who  ‘enriched ‘our campaign with pictures and memories from  her visit to the Library in January 2011, while from the very beginning Kiki Dimoula,  is closely linked with the Library’s  campaign , since whoever donates an amount from 250-499,99€ will receive the book “Dimosios Kairos” , Ikaros editions, signed by the poet herself .

The amount raised has already exceeded 43% of the target and
